Auckland Inspiration

A month ago Neon Carrot officially became a part of LYNX Innovation. We’ve been working with them as a client for about five years now, and the time came where it made a lot of sense to combine forces. I can share more in a future post about all the great things this relationship will bring our current and future clients. It’s a really great move and we are over the moon with excitement for what the future holds.

Personally, my role as creative director will continue. My title is Vice President of Creative Services, which means I’m part of the LYNX leadership team. One exciting facet of my role is that I get to attend board meetings, as needed. And the first board meeting I got to attend was in Auckland, New Zealand! LYNX is based in New Zealand, with US headquarters in Minnesota. I was very excited to get to go to New Zealand. I’ve visited a lot of place throughout the world, the result of having parents that love to travel, but I had never been to New Zealand.

It was a great trip. Though getting there and back is a challenge, as I had to fly 3 hours to Dallas and 15 hours to Auckland, and eventually back (the trip back is mercifully a couple hours shorter due to tail winds). Auckland looks and feels a lot like many large cities in the USA - e.g. Seattle - the familiarity felt good, but everything was different enough to feel like I was on “work” vacation. The most unique thing I noticed is that it’s more temperate than I thought it would be; there are palm trees!

The leadership team spent two days in in-depth meetings, and we had a couple days to explore the city and nearby Waiheke Island. I wanted to share some of my photos and notes with you. I saw many things that inspired and intrigued me. Browse through the gallery below to see some of what I saw while in New Zealand.
