What Does Neon Carrot Design?

Sometimes it can be hard to explain what we do as a company because there are so many ways, we believe, we can, do, and want to help our clients. At our core we are curious problem identifiers and creative solvers. Our clients come to us with an idea, need, or opportunity and we help them by crafting a solution and helping make it a reality. Or our clients come to us with stress, worry, anxiety, or fear, and we help them find a better place in those situations too; we are strong partners when times get tough.

But the world of creative services can be ambiguous, confusing, and daunting as a client. Rest assured though, you do NOT need to wear all the hats. So you can focus on your brand and business, let’s give you an overview of how we leverage design, and all the things that nurture good design, in service and support of our client partners.

What kind of products or services does your organization design?

Neon Carrot is a design company.

Clients, often brands, pay us for creative services that are centered around insight, strategy, and design. A bulk of what we design are retail experiences. What makes us unique is that we can and do partner with our clients throughout the product life cycle from research, strategy, product concept, design, marketing, packaging, all the way through in-store retail experience. Our clients can engage our services anywhere along that product development timeline, and work with us for any or all of the steps along the way. And we work seamlessly with their internal marketing, creative, and business teams, as well as their external partners such as agencies.

Even though we cover a lot of ground, we aren't design generalists either. We aren't for all of your brand needs. For example we do not do web design, manage online marketing content, or create logos. And we don’t do architectural design that involves structural design (though we do provide interior architecture services; designing interior commercial, retail, and hospitality spaces).

We think holistically about the entire product marketing ecosystem from product to store shelf. This is something few design companies can do, let alone do well.

Consumer Products

Our industrial designers are experienced experts at designing manufactured products that are sold in the marketplace to consumers. They consider ergonomics (touch and feel), human factors (usability), aesthetics (appeal), manufacturability, budget, and other factors to design products such as heaters, kitchen goods, and electronic devices.

We are great partners for brands that do not have a need for full time industrial (product) designers in house, or need to supplement their internal creative design team.

Packaging

We design the outside artwork that goes on packaging. Additionally we can concept and design the packaging itself. The skills we use to design products and retail experiences easily translate to packaging. In fact packaging can do a lot of the heavy lifting at retail for brands so they don’t have to spend as much money or effort on a separate retail display.

The most fun is when we work with a brand to design an unboxing experience. We’ve all seen the videos on YouTube, and there is something special about the connection we can create between shopper and brand through a well thought out unboxing experience.

Retail Interiors

We design spaces that shoppers love to visit, and explore. This can be the full store or a “store within a store” experience. We assess the needs of the retailer, shopper, and the brands that go into the store space and make sure our solutions are delightful and satisfying to all stakeholders. Store interiors are all about navigation, storytelling, and education. We want to attract, inform, and empower shoppers to go home with products they feel good about buying.

Space planning is one particularly important aspect of our work. The materials and finish are what most people see, but a retail space with thoughtful product adjacencies and smooth traffic flow are important to the overall positive impression we want guests to have in our stores.

Retail Experiences

It used to be that we designed retail displays but in the last decade it has become very important that we provide guests with meaningful experiences when they visit a physical brink-and-mortar store. We provide our brand and retailer clients full insight, strategy, and creative design services that result in built experiences that delight shoppers just like our store designs do.

We go beyond the build displays by storyboarding and designing the entire shopper journey and experience including content development for in-store and mobile content used in-store. We assure the brand experience in store is aligned with the brand’s other touch points, including those outside of our control.

Our parent company LYNX Innovation makes these experiences real with their technological manufacturing expertise, so our clients don’t have to hunt for a manufacturing partner (unless they want to).

There you have it, an overview of what we design for our clients.

One of the best parts of our job is the variety of clients we work worth, and the variety of projects. We learn a lot from every brand we work with and every project we work on. What we learn makes us better designers, and for example what we learn from a product design project might influence a store design project. We think holistically and thoughtfully about the entire product marketing ecosystem from product to store shelf. This is something few design companies can do, let alone do well.
